Mario and Hanna, two international protection applicants, found love in their diaspora community in Ireland. Although they had hopes for a better life in Ireland, they faced numerous challenges, including harsh weather, housing shortages, and difficulties in securing stable employment. These obstacles left them struggling to make ends meet.
Motivated by their shared vision for the future, the couple decided to return to their home country. They contacted IOM Ireland for support through the Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration program, expressing their desire to return to their home country. IOM Ireland quickly arranged their travel and additionally supported them with food vouchers as they awaited their travel date. After returning to their home country, the couple chose to use their reintegration grant to launch an Uber service, with the goal of building a sustainable livelihood.
We are happy to confirm that the couple is now working toward creating a stable and loving future together.
If you need to return to your country of origin and don't have the means to do so, contact us and find out how IOM Ireland can support you.
