When Sofia, Paul and their three children arrived in Ireland, they were eager to embark on their new life, full of opportunities.
However, they soon discovered that life in Ireland was more challenging than they expected, and they struggled to find employment. They made the decision to return to their home country and they reached out to IOM, applying for the Assisted Voluntary Return & Reintegration Programme. IOM Ireland connected the family with the IOM team in their home country to ease their return stress, reassuring them that further support would be available. On the day of their departure, the family was supported by Ireland staff at Dublin airport and from IOM teams during their transit.
Since returning, Sofia, Paul and their children have happily reintegrated into their community and, with the help of their reintegration grant, have successfully started a cooking business.
