When Anna arrived in Ireland, she was pregnant and excited for a new beginning, hoping to find better opportunities for herself and her child.

Unfortunately, upon giving birth, the young Anna began exhibiting signs of postpartum depression and she gracefully decided to return to her homeland, where she would be supported by her family. She reached out to IOM Ireland and applied for the Assisted Voluntary Return & Reintegration programme. The team at IOM quickly processed her application and supported her by booking all relevant appointments for her and her new baby, including a referred to a General Practitioner to ensure both were fit for travel. Additionally, IOM helped Anna obtain travel documents for her newborn and scheduled a call with IOM teams in her home country to discuss her return and how to best utilize her reintegration grant. On the day of departure, Anna was overjoyed to be going home and departed with her baby without any issues.

Since returning, she has been reunited with her family and has used her reintegration grant to obtain her teaching certification.
