After living in Ireland for two years, Fernanda decided to return home with the help of IOM Ireland the Assisted Voluntary Return Programme. She faced significant challenges in acclimating to her environment and the local weather, which negatively impacted her mental health.
IOM Ireland prioritized Fernanda’s wellbeing by arranging access to necessary medical care ensuring that Fernanda’s return was facilitated with safety and dignity. The journey itself involved nearly ten hours of transit, during which time IOM staff took care of Fernanda by arranging for her to rest at a nearby airport hotel.
Fernanda was happily reunited with her family in her home country. She is using her reintegration grant to help rebuild her life by furthering her education and enhancing her skills to contribute positively to her community.
