A man came to Ireland seeking better employment opportunities to support his family in his home country. However, due to his inability to read or write, he faced significant challenges in adapting to Ireland’s competitive labor market.
Unable to afford private accommodation, he found housing in a collective accommodation center for asylum seekers. There, he learned about IOM Ireland's Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration program during an information session held by IOM. Given the difficult circumstances, the man decided to apply for the program.
During his discussions with IOM staff, he discovered that he was eligible for a reintegration grant upon returning home. He immediately started planning how to best use the grant to support his family.
On the day of his departure, IOM staff met him at the airport and assisted him until he boarded his flight. Eager to reunite with his family, he returned home and used his reintegration grant to establish a small agricultural business, fulfilling his dream of providing for his family.
